I could use some "doggone" help!

I agree that your beloved dog has to much energy that needs to be released. I would try tiring your pet out and if that doesn't work, try getting a cage to put it into. It seems cruel to pin the dog up, but there is two things that doesn't seem so bad. 1st is that they love to have a cubby hole to crawl into like a den and 2nd, it is for the safety of your pet. Chewing on things while you are gone could lead into health problems. It could swallow something that is posioness or it could possibly block up the digestion track causing you vet bills not to mention maybe a surgery for the pet. Just my two cents worth. Have a blessed day, and give your pet a pat on the head for me. I am a big, big dog lover. I am allergic to cats and can't have them around me, so dogs are my familars. I have a great big American Rottie that is 150#'s. Pathwalker |

Thanks for those suggestions. She has a doggie door and a huge fenced in yard and plays outside a lot with the cat, Spooky. Yesterday, I moved her cage into her favorite spot beside the couch. This morning, I talked to her all morning.....blah blah blah and she seemed better tonight, only two chewups and those very minor. I know she is young, but....WHEW! When I got home from work, she was curled up in her "house" and happy to see me. I gave her a treat and told her how good she was. Sometimes, she chews up stuff while I am right in another room. I think the talking part is going to help. Maybe I could take her out to play ball a little bit before I go to work or throw some sticks around. I'll add that to my list of things to do before work...........ARGHHHHHHHHHH! |

Hi again.i don't claim to be an expert, well maybe, but anyhow I've had dogs my whole life and curently am owned by three of them.I'm afraid what I'm gonna say to you ,you may not want to hear it but i'm gonna say it..lol..Not only is your dog craving more of your attention, she's acting out because she's very upset when you arent home with her. Also, she requires alot of exercise for her breed wich means you should probably take her on long nature walks with you, atleast a 20 minute walk in general eveyday to help her relieve her stress.Look at her as a gift from the Gods, just in my opinion i think she is,and imagine her to be you best friend in the world and actually apart of your own body.A leg for instance,if you didn't move it for quite sometime it would fall asleep, and we all know how that feels, also if your leg was wounded,in her case a broken heart in your abscence, and you didn't adress that wound,it would only get worse..I hope i make sence..lol..and in know way is this message to be taken offensively..As a friend I just believe in telling things like they are..good luck..Blessed be Don |

Sounds to me like she needs a longer walk before you leave to work to use up some of that excess energy. However, my dog Louis(a weimaraner) used to trash the house the minute I left him alone and I always walked him daily. This only stopped when he was around 2 and a half years old. But then again weimaraners are known for needing lots of exercise daily as they have high energy...
